Throughout my conscious living journey I’ve made more thoughtful decisions on purchases, purged a ton of unloved possessions, created a minimal fashionable wardrobe, taken action to be more eco-friendly, and simplified my beauty routine. One thing that I’m still trying to figure out is how to deal with balancing the responsibilities I have with the creative, technical, and administration aspects of this blog, improving my Etsy store Azuha, keeping up with my dance training, plus the general tasks of being a wife and maintaining the household.
Finding balance in life is necessary for a peaceful healthy existence.
I’ve written about Minimizing The “To-Do” List and I’ve allowed myself to just not have one all together at times. I sometimes feel better not seeing a long list of tasks, and other times it is absolutely necessary to stay organized. I also keep appointments in my iPhone calender with multiple reminders. Usually the most important tasks usually never leave my awareness. After rereading The Beauty Of Doing Less and thinking about the questions mentioned in that article, I feel it is very important to check in with yourself.
It is time to say “when” if you consistently wake up exhausted, feel insanely resentful and don’t even know why, feel desperately unfulfilled, are skipping meals or eating in the car, plus have to convince yourself that you should do something for one reason or another.
The word “should” is a nasty one and usually a concept of the ego. I can also tell that it’s time to say “when” if my body is becoming extremely achey, I have been sitting and working so long my feet fall asleep, and my home becomes a complete disarray from lack of time to tend to it. Of course there will always be times in life when we can’t get away from work and certain responsibilities.
During those times when pushing through is our only option, we should be extra gentle with ourselves while becoming our own cheerleaders. Even allowing small breaks to stretch or taking a ten minute power nap can help tremendously. Eating the best organic foods possible to fuel ourselves is actually better than caffeine or other stimulants which will give us a quick high than have us crashing later on. I shared one of my favorite vibrant morning smoothies here. I have more energy than ever before since eating abundant raw foods.
I have been blessed to experience many times throughout my dance career that I didn’t always have to work crazy hard for money. The power of manifesting all of our needs by being in a constant state of gratitude, using our intuition so that we are using our time and energy wisely, as well as honoring the cycles of how we are feeling can actually draw more abundance to you than imaginable.
There really is immense power in being at peace while working smart not hard.
When I was in Madrid for work, I remember going to a restaurant on our lunch break and seeing the place packed with laughing men and women in business suits. They were there before we arrived, and still there after we left to go back to our dance rehearsal. Since then I have always wondered what our society would be like in America if we had two hour lunches and a siesta. Work days would feel so lovely if we weren’t rushing our lunch, or in my case eating while working. It is beautiful to be able to truly be in the moment and enjoy it. It actually allows us to be so much more productive when we return to work. What are we all rushing around for anyway?
Sometimes we really need know when to say “when” while taking time to nurture and nourish our souls so that our work life can feel much more pleasant.
