We’re Moving Again - Testimony

With everything going on with the world wide pandemic, I’m seeing the importance of sharing anything good that the Lord is doing in your life with others. We need hope. We need to share the joy of walking with God. The testimonies of glorifying God would just add encouragement that I know I need. I LOVE hearing of God making ways out of no way, giving us more hope and faith. So here’s my testimony.

At the end of September we received a notice from our apartment management that our building would be going under construction to fix the windows which were originally installed improperly causing leaks. Since living in Raleigh, one of the buildings in our apartment complex has been under construction to fix this problem for over a year. Now that they understand what they need to do, they are getting ready to begin on the other buildings.

Supposedly the construction would take no more than six weeks, but in my mind it made more sense to multiply that by two or three.

Every time that I’d pass the building under construction, I would always wonder how the tenants could live happily with scaffolding and construction six days a week. They had no access to their windows or balconies during this process. Well when the news hit, I prayed to God on how I could make it pleasant for my family while we had to go through the same thing.

I had anxiety because our apartment does not get as much natural light as is, and the noise of construction with a timid dog and toddler every day just seemed unbearable.

My husband’s concerns were dealing with me talking about the construction daily for however long it would take for it to be completed. I was going to be at home the most. I prayed and I let it go.

Well one morning my husband took the dog out for a walk, and he ran into the apartment manager. They spoke about the everyday things and then got into the construction notice. She mentioned that we could have a free transfer to another building, and to just ask for the keys to look at some other apartments.

When he told me this, I jumped.

I have always jumped at opportunities out of faith sometimes too quickly and other times to my benefit. My husband takes his time with things and this can make us clash. I told my husband that we could just look and see.

That Friday we saw three apartments in the building that the construction was being completed and found one that we liked. This unit is different than the layout of what we have now, but it has more light and the energy felt nice. Over that weekend I felt anxiety again about whether we should take this apartment, or stay where we are even though our current building was about to go in construction.

It’s amazing to me that when God blesses us, we sometimes think it is better to stay where we are out of fear instead of moving with God in the gift of the blessing.

When I prayed over that weekend I asked God what he thought we should do. I don’t know the neighbors around the unit we liked, and I wasn’t sure if when we got there if we would really like the apartment and be happy. Plus moving is such a task even if you do live with less. I brought all of my concerns to the Lord in prayer. While praying I heard the Lord say that this was a blessing for seeking His face. “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sins, and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV

I was initially praying to God for ways to endure what we were about to go through while somehow someway making it nice for my family during the process.

But God was already orchestrating a new way for us to not even have to endure it at all. Can you imagine homeschooling a toddler in construction while your dog is barking and shaking in fear from all the noise? Sounds crazy, right? Well all glory to God for making a way. “Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithall shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye need all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:31-33 KJV

Food, clothing, and shelter are the basic necessities in life, and God knows having a pleasant home is a blessing. The original construction notice did not mention free transfers, first come first serve. But God made a way for us, so next month we are moving again.

I know I can do nothing without God; I don’t breathe by my own will, nor does my heart beat by the conscious thoughts in my head.

God truly gets all the glory. If God has done anything in your life no matter how small please share it in the comments below. We all need to hear what’s good! The news shares otherwise, but we can create a space here and on social media of good testimonies. Please share below and I pray you are having a blessed day.

Much love!
