Hi Beauties,
For starters I wanted to say how thrilled I am to see the Minimalist Beauty Community growing, and how much I enjoy reading your comments and kind words. This week I spent hours looking through all of the DIY articles that I’ve written since the beginning in 2010, and created a new system of organizing these articles so that they would be so much easier to find.
You can now look in the menu bar at the top of the site and under “DIY” see each new category listed to find all the related and newly organized articles. I literally had no idea how many different recipes created and simple DIY ingredients used for beauty that I had tried and formulated over the years until I had to organize them. Please let me know if you find this new system of organization helpful.
The new DIY categories are…
Beauty Ingredients
Facial Cleanser
Facial Serum/Moisturizer
Facial Mask/Treatment
Eye Cream/Serum
Lip Balm
Hair Cleanser
Hair Rinse
Hair Leave-In/Styler
Beauty Oil/Butter
Beauty Mist/Toner
Natural Fragrance/Perfume
Deodorant
Nail Care
Makeup
Beauty Tip
Home/Decor
With all of that said, I also wanted to share some really sad news with you. Yesterday my father-in-law passed away suddenly. It was very unexpected. I’ll be taking some time away to be with my family. During this time I don’t want to set a date when I’ll return to posting on Minimalist Beauty despite all of the things that I had planned, and how much joy it brings me. It may be a week, it may be two, I’m honestly not sure. I know that sometimes putting yourself in your work is also a good distraction, but I truly don’t know. During this time Twitter and Facebook will most likely be very quiet as well, yet please continue to share your thoughts and new discoveries with each other there if you like.

First of all, my condolences to you, your husband and your family in this time of sorrow. I hope you have enough people that you that you may find comfort.
I, too, recently suffered two personal/familial losses– one totally unexpected and the other following a lengthy illness. I’m still left wondering why and still mourning. I am trying to focus on the memories of both family members that make me smile and life without focusing too obsessively on how they passed away from us. I hope to be better able to manage this as time moves on. I hope for the same for you.
I appreciate the way you’ve been able to continually make this blog more informative and appealing. This new organization technique is greatly appreciated–this will definitely help point me to the specific topic that I’m lookingn for when doing a search.

In my condolences, I forgot to the word surround. May you have enough people to surround you (with love) that you may find comfort.
Sorry for the omission.

I am very sorry for your loss Dawn. Blessings for him in his journey and to you and your husband and the rest of your family. I happened to be at a funeral of a wonderful person yesterday, though it was a parting that it was a long time coming so not shocking, still sad. I now unexpected losses are a different form of grief. Wishing you love and peace.

Hi Dawn,
THe same things happened to me about two years ago with my father in law. I know how you feel and it’s really tough. I’m thinking about you and hope that you, your family and especially your mother in law can find some peace. We are still taking it a day at a time, it’ll never be the same but you’ll find strength that you though you never had to be there for the ones you love.
