While society has us believing that we need more things and status to create true bliss in our lives, simple living has taught me something completely different. My experiences have molded me more than anything that I have ever owned. Although I wish every experience in my life has always been blissful, we do live in a world of duality. Yet creating beautiful experiences as often as possible versus focusing on buying more _____ can truly make you feel more alive and joyful. Here are some examples…
going to the ballet
seeing a magic show
lunch with a good friend
canoeing
watching your favorite sports team live
hiking
going to a theme park with roller coasters
camping
having a picnic
seeing a Broadway show
a belly dance class
strolling through the park
horseback riding
a pottery class
going to the opera
checking out a new exhibit at the museum
watching a play
taking a drawing class
learning a new language
a captivating novel
a dinner of international cuisine
traveling abroad
lounging at a cafe with live music
watching a movie classic
taking a drumming class
going dancing
gardening
Having new and beautiful experiences are very important for our everyday sanity. When we are frustrated by a mundane routine, finding creative outlets for unique activities is usually the best way to experience life in a new way. By relearning my daily habits that minimize excessive consumerism, I’ve created more time and money for activities that bring me joy. Also decluttering the unnecessary things and activities in my life, I have so much more peace of mind.
By living simply you are able to incorporate more beautiful experiences in your life!
