Monday will be the first day of The 33 Days Declutter Project—Round 2. I am very excited about the response and excitement that has been shared so far by so many of you. When I look back at my personal evolution with living with less it is astonishing. It has definitely been a process and a journey.
Over time I have become more and more comfortable with having less stuff and have really become clear with why I keep things and why I don’t. Only keeping items that you love and use takes some time to become confident and comfortable with. To prepare for this project I wanted to share some of the articles that I’ve written over my evolution of minimalist living. These articles share how I’ve been feeling about this process, my insights along the way, and how living with less has changed my life. Please check out these articles for inspiration or just to read more of my experience.

Have a great weekend!

I can relate, the more Ive decluttered and minimized the clearer my decision process has become. I even had an epiphany the other day when I thought I loved a new bag but really had no use for it. I finally bit the bullet and took it back (much to my dismay) but once I did, I felt a huge relief. Now I dont have to force myself to find a use for something I didnt really need in my life even though I thought it was very cute.

Hi Tracy,
That’s a wonderful revelation. We really don’t need to find a use for everything. I will have to keep this in mind during this current decluttering project. <3

I absolutely love your website. Decluttering feels great and I do that on a regular basis, although I am nowhere near where you are at. Now I am committed to downsizing my (already quite small) wardrobe and have put up a whole for sale and given even more to Goodwill. However, I find myself having a hard time letting go of a few dresses that have memory value (mostly ones from my grandmother) and expensive jewellery and sunglasses. For example I have a 5 year old pair of Burberry sunglasses that I still quite like but never use as I have a new pair that I like better. I think I could let go of it if it had not been so expensive in the first place. Would you mind sharing your thoughts on this? Would love to hear how you deal with these situations and I look forward to read more about your current decluttering project!

Hi Björk,
In the beginning of decluttering I would just put aside items that you feel conflicted about. There is always more to Declutter anyway so there is no need to stress about particular items. Instead work on decluttering paperwork, the kitchen and other personal items that don’t trigger emotions. Over time you will feel more comfortable with the process and more confident about releasing certain items. Also I’m sharing my daily process and items that I am releasing during The 33 Days Declutter Project on Facebook. <3

Thank you so much for your kind answer. I will step away from my wardrobe now and go ahead and declutter my office space and sewing room! Excited to follow your decluttering journey on facebook, thanks again for your advice.

Hi Björk,
You are so welcome! Sometimes it is so much easier to focus on another area for decluttering instead of ones that hold a lot of emotions. It does get easier. <3
