This post contains affiliate links from my favorite brand Mountain Rose Herbs. I love their high quality organic/fair trade products, and am blown away by their commitment to zero waste.

I LOVE making my own beauty products.  This one is probably one of my easiest recipes.  This hair and body butter takes five minutes to make, and has only two main ingredients.  The third ingredient is only an optional bonus.

What you will need...

I personally don't like to heat my ingredients if I don’t have to.  If you have an electric hand mixer there’s no need to heat the ingredients.  Using heat can remove some of the healing properties from the butter and oils used, so I avoid using heat as much as possible.

To create this hair and butter add two parts of shea butter to one part of coconut oil, and mix until smooth in a mixing bowl with your electric mixer.  I used 1 cup of shea butter and 1/2 cup of coconut oil.  For a lovely scent add 50 drops of your favorite essential oil.  I used lavender essential oil this time, yet pure vanilla absolute is my favorite!

Transfer your hair and body butter into a clean glass jar, and enjoy as often as you like.  A little goes a long way with this one, so you will never have to use a lot.  Also make as much or as little as you like especially since this recipe is so easy to make.  Note the softer and smoother the shea butter is that you use, the easier and faster it will be to whip up this beautiful butter.

If you are interested in a more intricate beauty butter recipe, then you definitely want to check out the DIY Tropical Vanilla Hair & Body Butter.  Another option to enhance this recipe is to infuse your oil prior to creating your butter.  I love solar infusing oil with vanilla beans.  The scent is beyond magical especially if you are a vanilla lover like I am.  I've also shared other herbal infused oil options if you are interested.

Maybe this Simple 5 Minute Hair & Body Butter Recipe is perfect for lazy days, yet these few ingredients definitely make a luscious butter regardless!
