I can’t believe that Thanksgiving is this Thursday, and that it is already the holiday season! 2014 has truly flown by! During the end of the year I always do a recap of lessons and triumphs as well as beginning to make goals for the new year. I find that the holidays are the perfect time for personal reflection and stepping outside of the conditioned holiday craziness for some needed relaxation. It honestly is a choice. Although the holidays seem to thrust society into to doing more, excessive consumerism, and sometimes financial stress, I like to see this time of year as the perfect opportunity to slow down and do less.
What I love most about the holiday season is the festive music, the decorations, the food, and spending quality time with family and friends. I enjoy cooking as well as trying new recipes. For Thanksgiving I plan to make the Holiday Salad from FullyRaw, a curry quinoa veggie dish with sweet potatoes, and a raw delicious pumpkin pie. I’ll actually be tweaking a few different recipes for the raw pumpkin pie so my fingers are crossed that it turns out well. When I keep things simple things usually works out better than when I complicate them. My hubby is making his infamous kale and collards which has become a request at every Thanksgiving dinner. We haven’t ever hosted Thanksgiving, yet we always bring dishes to share where ever we spend it.
Finding balance with possibly unnecessary obligations and activities during the holidays is important especially if you desire to enjoy it. It is also a time to be sensitive to others and very compassionate as this time of year brings up a lot of emotions for everyone both good and otherwise. Since we begin this holiday season with Thanksgiving, holding onto a sense of gratitude is actually one of the best spaces to live in throughout the rest of the holiday season into the new year. I am beyond grateful for this platform Minimalist Beauty to share my thoughts about life and ways to simplify it on every level.
What are you grateful for?
Also the winner for the Mountain Rose Herbs Henna Giveaway is Kuuleimomi. I’ll be sending you an email. Congratulations!

Hi Myesha,
I will be sharing more yummy recipes so stay posted for them. As for my hair I just trimmed my hair and actually used flaxseed gel this time which is great for removing excess sebum off of the hair if doing the water only hair washing regimen. I plan to do a wash and go update on my hair soon as there are other things that I am testing out since flaxseed gel can’t be used all the time on this regimen. Have a great holiday!
