I’ve been designing and decluttering my home for months now to enjoy the beautiful space that I live in. I wanted to share my progress so far. Yesterday I reorganized my work station and absolutely love the changes. I took apart the top shelf portion of the computer desk, and re-purposed it to make shelving for my husbands closet. It worked out so well I won’t need to buy organizational bins. There is abundant new space in my work area by simplifying my desk. I will most likely put at least one piece of art in the space for interest. I just haven’t decided what yet.
By no means am I an extreme minimalist, nor am I striving to be. I do like decor just for the sake of pure beauty, yet also like to keep things as simple as possible. Since we moved into this apartment we never bought a bed. It was something that bothered me for quite awhile, although over time I stopped thinking about it. I’m surprised to admit at times that I actually like the mattress on the floor instead. To make it a little more stylish I used two wooden cubicles as nightstands and placed bamboo circular place-mats and white cube lamps on top for night time reading.
Our dining area is as simple as it gets. My father is the artist of the painting over our table. He gave to me this painting as a gift after finishing the Broadway Tour of Aida. I picked out folding chairs to easily add two more if we have dinner guests, and effortlessly store them.
Our living room area is extremely comfortable. I’ve really enjoyed entertaining friends and family since figuring out this furniture arrangement and decor. Having a futon instead of a couch has allowed overnight guests conveniently.
There is still more to do, yet I’m truly satisfied with what has already been accomplished so far. My home is still a work in progress. I’d even love to add graphic vinyl decor but we’ll see.
