Henna hair treatments have been the key to my healthy hair growth. I have fine hair strands, yet a lot of them so my hair appears thick. At the same time my hair is extremely fragile. Using henna regularly as part of my hair care regimen has really strengthened my hair.
My hair has an unbelievable shine and is easier to manage and comb through because of henna.
I’ve been using henna since March 2010 when my hair was much shorter. If I’m not doing a full henna hair treatment, I will add a few tablespoons of pure body art quality (BAQ) henna to whatever deep conditioning treatment I am using, and leave it on for 30 minutes to an hour. I make sure to use henna 2-3 times a month.
Because I have fine hair strands and henna bonds to the keratin in hair, consistent use of henna has loosened my curls some overtime. My braid out styles like in the picture above are extremely smooth, full and wavy, yet I can still do wonderful curly wash and go styles as well like in this picture. If you’d like to use henna for its conditioning properties without any curl loosening add amla powder to your henna mix.
If you’d like to try the conditioning effects of henna without adding color to your hair using cassia powder instead of henna which is also called neutral henna.
Cassia is a completely different plant which will provide golden highlights to lighter hair and provide a conditioning shine for darker hair. The conditioning benefits of cassia last for about a week, where the benefits of henna last for a month. I have not personally had much experience with cassia, yet as I’ve always used henna.
I’ve tried all kinds of things over the years with my hair, and I have found henna to be the best thing for me. I also believe that henna is so much better than hair texturizers as it not only smooths and strengthens the hair, it provides stunning red highlights for my dark brown hair, and gives an unbelievable conditioning shine like no other without any damage to hair. Not everyone experiences curl loosening with henna, yet you will definitely see the amazing results of henna after three uses. I feel it only gets better the more you use it!
