Now that winter is here, dehydrated skin can be a problem for all skin types. Hydration is so important both by drinking lots of purified water, and making sure that the skin stays hydrated throughout the day. One of my favorite refreshing and hydrating beauty products for my skin are floral waters or hydrosols. Rose, lavender, and chamomile are some of my favorites.
Floral water and hydrosols can be used as a toner, to refresh makeup, and especially when traveling on dry airplanes. You can refresh your skin throughout the day with just a simple floral spritz. If you are a makeup wearer, and feel that your skin needs a pick-me-up, spritz your skin to refresh your foundation, then buff you face with an all purpose flat stippling or powder brush. I’ve found that even when applying foundation with your fingers, you can achieve the most natural look if you then buff the foundation into your skin. This buffing works well for all types of foundation: tinted moisturizers, liquid foundation, and of course mineral makeup.
One of the most cost effective and vegan friendly flat powder brushes is from e.l.f. Cosmetics. It is an anti-bacterial, synthetic haired Taklon brush that goes for $3 which I found at Target.
Another fantastic option is the Limited Edition Beautiful Expressions Kabuki Set by EcoTools which has the perfect flat buffing brush. If you are in need of some new powder, foundation, contour, and blush brushes this set is brilliant.
So next time your skin feels a little bit parched, spray and buff to refresh, hydrate, and bring back that natural glow. This is one of the best beauty tricks when traveling, especially during this busy holiday season. Check out a variety of hydrosols at Mountain Rose Herbs.
