If I could sum up this year with one word it would be “transition”. 2014 has been a year of focusing on personal growth, which my husband claims we have emotional stretch marks from, clarifying what is most important to me in life, finding new ways to share love and express creativity, developing healthy boundaries with work and relationships, as well as spending quality time with family. Some dear loved ones also transitioned to heaven this year which is never expected. I spent the beginning of this week in New York City to celebrate the life of my incredible grandmother Janie Marie who was 101 years old when she passed away. 101 years old is beyond phenomenal to me, and she left behind a legacy of natural home remedies, abundant love, generosity, wisdom, immense faith, and strong passion for God!
This year has also been about welcoming in the new. We moved into a new apartment this year which I adore and still have plans to share with you, we adopted a super sweet Pomeranian/Chihauhau pup named Keona, and I found new ways to look at my life and feel at peace in it. We focused on so many aspects of life this year on Minimalist Beauty. There are articles galore on finding the simplist skin care regimen for clear radiant skin, the beauty of minimizing hair products by incorporating water only hair washing (I know it sounds crazy, but I still swear by it one year later), living clutter-free with a second round of The 33 Days Declutter Project, enjoying two more capsule wardrobes, living your dreams, while creating more awareness on eating whole foods for supreme health and beauty, the issue with sugar, and learning more about the problems with processed foods.
I see 2015 only getting better as we did deeper into the beauty of simple living. Today is Christmas Eve and I wanted to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year! I look forward to sharing more with you in 2015, and am so excited as our awesome community continually grows and becomes stronger. Sending you so much love, and best wishes with everything that you dream to do!
See you in 2015!
(Oh and by the way I did Marley/Havava Twists as my holiday hair style which I originally wrote about here just in case you were curious. And the first newsletter that I promised will go out in the new year! If you’d like to receive it you can subscribe in the right sidebar –>)

Thank you Dawn for this message. It means a lot. I have this feeling in my bones and energy that surrounds me, telling me that 2015 will be a wonderful year.
I lost my dad this year in December and it’s been hard. I had to keep coming up for air and positive energy, and your lovely blog posts were here each time.
Wishing you, your husband and family the best New Year as prosperity and love surrounds you.
Thank you so much for sharing things that are priceless: Time and Love.

Dawn,
Your hair looks nice in Marley twists. Do you use coconut oil for your hair still? I found some coconut oil in my pantry but it expired in 2013. Some say that it can last for years… What do you think?
Dawn Michelle says
Hi Eren,
Thanks so much! I don’t use coconut oil but you can see the latest beauty products I am using here. And yes coconut oil does last for a LONG time. Best wishes!
