Every once and a while I do try new natural beauty products. Although I’d like to make all of my cosmetics, I have not evolved to that yet. I think that sometimes looking for something new can become a wonderful discovery. Here are three great products that I adore and are well worth the money.
1. Dr. Hauschka Mascara in Black
In Minimalist Beauty’s Makeup Bag I rave about Zuzu Luxe Mascara and it has been my staple mascara until now. I’ve always wanted to try Dr. Haushka’s makeup line, but never did since many of the colors wouldn’t compliment my complexion. Yet for anyone on the search for natural quality makeup, Dr. Haushka is another brand to definitely consider. Dr. Haushka Mascara is absolutely amazing! It provides the lengthening that I desire, curls lashes, and coats multiple layers without flaking. It also comes in brown and royal blue.
Ingredients: Water/Aqua, Alcohol, Sorbitol, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, Camellia Sinensis (Black Tea) Leaf Extract, Melia Azadirachta (Neem) Leaf Extract, Hectorite,Euphrasia Officinalis (Eyebright) Extract, Hydrogenated Jojoba Oil (Jojoba Wax), Beeswax/Cera Flava, Rosa Damascena (Rose) Flower Wax, Rosa Damascena Flower Oil (Rose Essential Oil), Citronellol, Geraniol, Linalool, Xanthan Gum,Lysolecithin (Hydrolyzed Lecithin), Maltodextrin, Silica, Iron Oxides, Titanium Dioxide/CI 77891, Ultramarines/CI 77007,Carmine/CI 75470
2. Devita Solar Protective Moisturizer SPF 30+
I create my own foundation that I also use as concealer that I wrote about in Creating Mineral Makeup–Liquid or Powder. That foundation recipe emmerged from a wonderful zinc oxide based sunscreen that left a blue filmy residue on my skin. Mixing it with iron oxides was the best way to make use of the amazing ingredients in the sunscreen and flatter my complexion. You can find that recipe here.
Finally I found a sunscreen that doubles as a moisturizer. Devita Solar Protective Moisturizer is zinc oxide based, a healthy natural sunscreen, that does not have any blue filmy residue. It is easy to apply and feels light on the skin. It is not a nanotechnology product, yet does contain hyaluronic acid that has anti-aging and moisturizing properties from a vegan source. I also believe that this ingredient prevents the zinc oxide from giving it’s usual filmy appearance.
Ingredients: Micronized Zinc oxide 19%, Aloe barbadensis (organic aloe vera gel), Purified Water (aqua), Capric/caprylic triglycerides (derived from coconut oil), Glycerin (vegetable), Hyaluronic acid (vegan source), Glyceryl stearate SE (derived from vegetable oil), Stearic acid, Lecithin phospholipid, Tocopherol (vitamin E), Allantoin, Vitis vinifera (grape) seed extract. Ingredient labeling adheres to international INCI standards.
3. Zuzu Luxe Cream Brow Pencil in Mink
Since my brows are pretty sparse, a little brow enhancement makes a world of a difference. What I love most about this pencil is that it is easily blendable giving a natural look as well as comes with a brow brush attached. That brow brush couldn’t be more convenient.
Ingredients: Carnauba wax, organic candelilla wax, caprylic/capric triglyceride, xanthan gum, tocopheryl acetate, ascorbyl palmitate, organic sea fennel extract, hectorite, lecithin, iron oxides, titanium dioxide.
As summer comes closer, I usually prefer to wear even less makeup than I do during other times of the year. Focusing on good skin care makes this a possibility. These three products will be my staples for this summer’s beauty look along with my favorite bronzing blush color called Bella Donna also by Zuzu Luxe. This color is absolutely gorgeous on all complexions.
Stay tuned for my new skin care regimen that again has been tweaked a bit. I’ll explain why later. Enjoy your weekend!
