So I’m back from my maternity leave (at least in theory) and the newest article will be posted this coming Tuesday. I’ve been back and forth in my mind about sharing the birth story of my son, and I decided to just go for it. Giving birth is such a powerful process.
On the days prior to the birth, I had to constantly remind myself that every person on the planet was born through a woman, and that was the most incredible gift any mother can give. I don’t believe we as women give ourselves enough credit sometimes. I think that there is no better time than ever for women to lift each other up and truly support each other. When we are unable to do so, there is more room for our own personal healing work. This was a time for me when leaning on my mother and midwife kept me extremely strong and focused. Those details will be in the birth story though.
Some of you have already asked for my thoughts on keeping things simple with a baby especially in an era when we are told we need so much stuff now that we are new mothers. I definitely have my thoughts on this, and I can share what has worked for me so far. Some of the best advice that I was given was to get the basics and whatever else I felt I needed along the way versus loading up beforehand.
I can also share some thoughts on staying as eco friendly as possible with a new baby. Diapers seem to be one of the biggest issues in terms of waste. Between cloth diapering and Elimination Communication aka Natural Infant Hygiene, you can really minimize your carbon footprint and develop a closer relationship with your baby. That is an article or two in itself.
So now that I’m back, feel free to write some topics in the comment section that you might be interested in. I have my hands full, but I will do my best to cover great suggestions that resonate with me. I do have some major changes in my curly hair care regimen which I will also share.
If you have sent me questions on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, I will do my best to reply this weekend and over next week. I have plenty of business emails to catch up on too. Although I didn’t reply to each loving comment on social media or the blog for our son’s birth announcement, they were all truly heart felt, and I appreciate each one of you so much! I am wishing all of you a wonderful weekend, and stay posted for Elijah’s birth story next week.
