Oil cleansing with jojoba oil has been the best thing that I could have ever done for my skin. Once again I am aware that good natural skin care does not have to be so complicated with tons of different products and steps. Although I regretfully used the Oil Cleansing Method in the past with castor and olive oil, I still recommend cleansing with jojoba oil over other oils as it is extremely similar to our skin’s natural sebum. Lately I’ve been mixing lavender essential oil with jojoba oil for my skin care regimen, yet there are so many other wonderful essential oils that you can use. Here are six fantastic essential oils that cater to various skin conditions and needs to try with oil cleansing.
Helichrysum oil is a powerful therapeutic oil that can heal acne, blemishes, stretch marks, and scars enhancing tissue regeneration. It has the ability to soothe inflammation and swelling and is known to increase skin circulation. Helichrysum oil is also known to relieve pain in bruises and soothe sports injuries.
Cypress oil is perfect for oily over moisturized skin and a natural detoxifier. It is skin tightening and pore reducing increasing skin circulation while healing chronic acne. Cypress oil has a refreshing pine aroma for those who love a spicy woodsy scent.
Geranium oil balances both oily and dry skin while improving cell turnover to reveal healthier looking skin. It’s natural antibacterial properties makes it a gentle natural cleansing oil helping to clear the complexion. Geranium oil is calming to the mind and body.
Rose oil is amazing for treating dry, sensitive, and aging skin and is a well known aphrodisiac with its sweet floral scent. Neroli oil is very calming and soothing to nerves. It has a light sweet floral fragrance and is a wonderful perfuming oil. It has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antiseptic properties. Neroli essential oil is good for all skin types: sensitive, dry, oily, and mature. It is great for healing scars, increasing circulation, anxiety, headaches, as well as for wrinkles and stretch marks.
When trying out new essential oils for oil cleansing, create small batches with 1/2 oz of jojoba oil at a time until you are sure that you are in love. Update 10-29-13—Jojoba oil isn’t always successful for everyone with acne prone skin. After doing a whole bunch of research, I’ve learned why which I’ve written about in this article on oils specifically for acne prone skin. I hope this article brings more insight.
