I usually start my day with an action packed green smoothie which provides me with raw energy giving fruits and green leafy veggies plus my favorite hemp protein. I love eating raw for breakfast and I am always looking for other exciting healthy options to start the day with. I was so thrilled to see a raw cereal recipe by Kristina of Fully Raw Organic yesterday.
One of the main ingredients for this raw cereal is dried mulberries with a homemade banana “mylk” consisting of bananas and coconut water and lots of fruit.
I have yet to try dried mulberries myself, and will most likely pick some up from the organic grocery store this weekend. Mulberries are said to be “nature’s candy” and are also considered one of the many incredible superfoods. If mulberries are as sweet as they say, I look forward to having a healthier alternative to the gluten-free cookies I always crave. In this cereal organic bananas, strawberries, and blueberries are added, yet dates or any fruit of your choice could even be added for more yummy goodness. You can see the raw cereal recipe with mulberries here.
Mulberries are a rich source of antioxidant resveratrol which is an anti-mutagen and a strong anti-inflammatory. They are packed with vitamin B, C, and K, and minerals such as potassium, iron, manganese, and magnesium. Mulberries are said to lower blood pressure, increase circulation, strengthen the immune system, promote healthy glucose levels, encourage healthy cellular replication and membrane stability, improve cholesterol, and help control the digestion of carbohydrates. Because mulberries are high in resveratrol they make an incredible anti-aging beauty and health food combined!
Mulberries can also be used to create your own raw “oatmeal” cookies. I love this idea as well and this recipe includes dates, raisins, and cinnamon. This is one superfood I plan to try as soon as possible.
Have you tried dried mulberries yet? I’ll tell you what I think once I do. (Update: Dried mulberries are super sweet and seriously are “nature’s candy”. I ate the entire bag that I bought before I could try these recipes. I’ll have to get more soon!) You can also find healthy smoothie recipes here!

Hi E,
Yes mulberries are extremely sweet! I purchased dried mulberries from an organic co-op near my friends house last weekend and they hardly lasted three days!
