Dealing With Chaos & Welcoming Change

February 6, 2015 by Dawn Michelle

Sometimes things can literally feel like everything is upside down.  For me this always translates to change happening all around my life.  Everything always flows so much more easily if I open my heart up to these changes.  Change always leads to new insights, new opportunities, personal growth, divinely inspired risk taking, and abundant blessings.

One thing that can always be guaranteed with life is constant change.

The earth is continually moving, and if we are not moving with it, our life becomes stagnant.  One way that I deal with the blazing chaos of life is to slow down.  When things feel like they are moving too quickly, or too harshly, this is the perfect time to take some quiet time for yourself and go within.

Open your heart up and take a moment to discover why change feels so vulnerable, uncomfortable, or distressing.  This is the perfect opportunity for meditation and/or journaling to become more in touch with the beliefs that may no longer be serving you.  Just fifteen minutes of deep breathing can make a HUGE difference.  Even better would be to take a sea salt bath with plain sea salt from the grocery store with a few drops of your favorite essential oils.  Sea salt helps to dissolve emotional and physical stress.

One of the best ways to deal with change is to simplify your life.

It is always easier to move forward in life if you have less to bring with you.  Release the unnecessary items in your home.  Do forgiveness work on everyone, including yourself, who has hurt or deeply annoyed you in the past by writing it down on paper, saying a prayer to let it go, and burning the paper safely over the sink or in any other safe way.  Cancel subscriptions that are cluttering up your inbox.  Begin saying no to the demands that others are making on your time and energy, and spend your own time more efficient, organized, and freely.  Eat the healthiest food that you can get your hands on.

All of this can feel overwhelming at times, yet this does not all have to be approached all at once.  Begin with nurturing yourself, then begin the decluttering process.  The more that you reclaim your life, and release everything that is not current to your dreams and aspirations, the more free spirited and light you will feel.  Living light is a blessing.  You don’t have to carry the emotional and physical weight unless you choose to.

It may take some work, but unpack your bags, donate, recycle, and release the unloved, and walk light in the world.

Be light, live light!

We are on the same vibe for sure because this has been me lately! You’re so right about decluttering, taking less with you as you move forward. Thank you as always for your inspiring, insightful posts. Will be revisiting this one after this busy weekend!

Yes. I hear you. It hurts when you’re going through it and sometimes it feels like you’ll never get to the other side.

The issue is that some part of us says we can’t make it and another says the contrary. The change often comes right when you have other plans for life.

I’m not sure what to say, so as not to diminish what you’re going through, but I can tell you that for every time I thought I couldn’t take any more, something better eventually made it to my door.

I look at those difficult times now and realize they made me stronger, wiser, more aware, and most importantly helped me to know who and what truly supports me.

  • My Fall/ Winter 2019 Capsule Wardrobe is up FINALLY! It's taken me a LONG time to get this capsule wardrobe together. Much of it is linen, thrifted, and a few pieces I sewed myself. I was really worried I wouldn't be prepared for winter back on the east coast, but I did get it together. Luckily winter in North Carolina is not even close to winter further north. 🍂🍁
My Fall/Winter 2019 Capsule Wardrobe consists of five tops, three skirts, five dresses, three sweaters, three coats, two pairs of shoes, a scarf, bag, and belt. 🍂🍁 This #capsulewardrobe is still #modest and should definitely appeal to the #linenlover. I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! 🍂🍁 Much love! 🍂🍁

  • My love for linen dresses hasn’t stopped. But since our big move from Los Angeles, CA to Raleigh, NC the budget for them has. Luckily I purchased a great drop shoulder linen top a year ago that I created a pattern from.
🕊
With this pattern I’ve made a top and two dresses so far. One of the dresses is in my spring/summer capsule, yet the dress I’m sharing today is for fall/winter. Today I wanted to share a bit of the process for making this latest dress on Minimalist Beauty.

  • I haven't posted many things on food/nutrition on the blog or even here for a long time since I've been figuring things out myself. One thing that I've been doing in the last few months is fermenting all grains, beans, and legumes. 🌿 I had stopped eating them all together because of the phytic acid that they contain which can really limit your diet. Fermenting grains, beans, and legumes makes a huge difference. If this is something you'd be interested in hearing more about just let me know. 🌿This delicious dinner is piled high with mixed greens, basmati rice, black beans, avocado, and a rather large mound of raw minced garlic which is my warrior food against getting sick while the weather is changing here in NC. #fermenting #minimalistbeautyeats #foodasmedicine
  • My most updated skin care regimen along with the HUGE benefits using only oils high in linoleic acid for six years in my skin care routine on the blog today. Wishing all if you a beautiful weekend! 💞Dawn Michelle

  • I never thought I would actually say this but, I'm really enjoying the bare walls of our new apartment. After the stress and chaos of moving our family across the country, I've noticed that bare walls allow me space to think. 🌿 We're constantly bombarded with information, and some of it we create ourselves. It's all much more than I can comfortably handle. 🌿 Just sharing some thoughts on minimalism and decor on the blog today. Pictured is part of my son's creative space. Hope you're having a great week! 🌿 #simpleliving #minimalistbeauty #minimalistdecor
  • Moving is always challenging. No one is exempt. Our family of three (plus our dog) recently relocated from Los Angeles, California to Raleigh, North Carolina. We made a stop in Virginia to spend time with family as well as recoup from the first part of our move. We then planned what we could for our new location.
🕊
This entire move has been a true testimony of faith since I’ve only been to Raleigh once as a teen, and we chose our apartment online sight unseen. 🕊

  • We're currently selling and donating 95% of our things and relocating. 🕊What has surprised me more than anything else is when we decided to donate and sell practically everything, our possessions no longer had the same value to us. 🕊I'm extremely excited for this new beginning. 🕊Read more on minimalistbeauty.com. #minimalist #minimalistlifestyle #decluttering #newbeginnings 🕊(FYI... During this transition @iamAZUHA will be on a summer vacation for a few weeks beginning Wednesday June 19th. So if you need to restock on the AZUHA Red Raspberry Skin Elixir go for it.)
  • Yes I did it again. I was planning to grow it long, but things changed. I blame it on being a busy mom, but I've been eyeing this cut for a few years now. All the details on how I cut my own hair in a very simple way is up on Minimalist Beauty... Linen dress by @cottoncandy_by_romana
