  • Everything doesn’t effect everyone the same way. So this story today is based on my experiences. With that said, let me to do what I do and be 100% transparent. I recently realized I had an inordinate affection for clothing. This revelation showed me clothing was getting in the way with my walk with God. So I took my wardrobe off its pedestal. 🍃 I was thinking about why clothing was so consuming for me. It all came down to 14 years as a professional dancer, 12 of them in Hollywood. Nothing can be as tormenting to how you think than being in the Hollywood entertainment business. Being type casted constantly had a lot to do with it.   • Since we’ve been quarantined for awhile now, I’ve had much more time to really observe my son at home. A reader recently asked how I organized my son’s toys. Previously I had his toys in medium sized baskets along the wall in the bedroom. Although his toys were organized, he would usually want to be in the same room I was in, and wasn’t engaging in his toys. He’d instead color at his table in the kitchen.   • I've had a lot of frustration putting together my spring/summer capsule this year. Everything changed once I pared down to under 15 clothing items. I remembered how you can experience decision fatigue by wasting precious energy on something as trivial as what to wear. 🌿 Decision fatigue is a reduction in quality decisions made after a long series of decisions. Not wasting important decision making on what to wear saves successful professionals a longer span of time making good decisions. Some examples are Steve Jobs (a black turtleneck and jeans), Mark Zuckerburg (a grey tee and jeans), President Barak Obama (a grey or blue suit), and Karl Lagarfeld (a high collared white shirt and black blazer). They've all chosen a very specific uniform to eliminate the decision completely. They've also eliminated the decision of what to buy which saves more precious time and energy. 🌿 I've come to the conclusion that having a small wardrobe may not enough to eliminate decision fatigue for myself.   • Nothing compares to a warm cup of turmeric and ginger tea as I try to get ahead in some work at home. I’m so happy to finally be sharing this collaboration I did with @photowall_sweden (linked in my profile). As some of you know, when we moved from Los Angeles, CA to Raleigh, NC we sold and donated 95% of our possessions. Decorating a new home from scratch has been a refreshing experience, but it has been a lot of work. 🌸 Today on the blog I’m sharing how I create beauty in my home with minimalism. By focusing on only a few statement pieces, the living and dining space in our home has truly come to life. I used texture, natural elements, a beautiful floral canvas print, and light colored neutrals to bring it all together. This will be the beginning of our home tour.   • My favorite multi-purpose beauty oil high in linoleic acid is organic safflower oil from @mountainroseherbs which is abundant in vitamin E with anti-inflammatory properties. Organic safflower oil has become my favorite oil for oil cleansing, body lotion, and for my hair which makes this oil perfect when traveling and packing light. 🌸 Ever since learning how the composition of carrier oils can effect acne prone skin, I realigned my personal skin care and beauty regime to follow my findings.   • I don't usually get this excited about anything I've baked, but it's hard to find gluten-free, dairy-free, and sugar-free recipes that actually taste great. 🕊 I worked on this gluten-free, dairy-free, and sugar-free banana bread recipe for months before settling on this recipe. I would make a batch every week on Friday afternoon so it would be ready for breakfast Saturday morning.
