As some of you know I’m kind of obsessed with vintage Coach bags. Ok… so I am completely obsessed! I didn’t tell you earlier, but over the holidays, I found a rather huge black hobo/bucket/”this will change your life” vintage Coach bag at Crossroads.
I can’t remember exactly what I was supposed to be looking for that day, but I lucked up on an unknown treasure instead.
I wasn’t planning on buying a new bag as I already have two other vintage coach bags I enjoy, yet the size and design of this bag was unlike the other two. Plus these bags only get better with time. I must have carried it around the store for 20 minutes before I decided to purchase it. Now well over a month later I can truly say that it was an immaculate decision. With a bit of a beeswax based salve massaged into the leather, it was renewed and now is my latest favorite.
I usually plan out exactly what I am going to look for before shopping for anything. Yet once in awhile I do have a sporadic purchase like this one. As with anyone who desires to maintain a minimalist lifestyle, as one item comes in, something else must go out. Well I did do a serious decluttering session at the end of the year so a bit of sporadic behavior can definitely be tolerated.
The quality of vintage Coach leather bags is incomparable to most bags I see. I’m a huge sucker for quality and also classic styles which don’t scream anything but subtlety. What’s crazy is that I accidentally spilled water inside my bag the other day, and although a few things that I didn’t want to did get wet, I literally poured the water out like it was in a glass. No one could even tell what happened as I continued going about my day.
That’s how thick this leather is and I LOVE that vintage Coach bags do not have a lining!
Another recent purchase was this book Love Style Life by Garance Doré. I’ve been enjoying her blog, illustrations, photography, writing style, and fashion sense for years. When I discovered she had a book coming out, I knew it would be an elegant work of art and no surprise it is. I am still reading through it and devouring this gem with complete indulgence. There is something so creative about the details of this book, and I am loving each artistic nuance, and just how everything flows so gracefully.
I am always drawn to true artists, and how each shares their journey and perspective.
Lastly we are on the lookout for a new couch. Our sweet Pomeranian/Chihuahua Keona decided when her stomach wasn’t feeling well that the couch was the best place to hide the evidence. After getting her food right, not trying any new treats for her sensitive stomach, while sadly taking away her couch privileges, we are looking for something possibly a bit Art Deco or with a modern vintage edge to it. I love decorating, and our living room could use a complete revamp. Thank you Keona for the idea. But first I must find the perfect couch before the transformation begins.
So yes today was a bit random, and to be honest a very liberating way to write. This is how my mind works anyway. Enjoy your weekend Beauties!
