My hubby and I realized this past weekend that we hadn’t gone on a holiday for a year and a half! I have no idea how so much time flew by without us taking a break from everything. On Sunday we decided to do a quick two day getaway to Laguna Beach. It’s only an hour and a half outside of Los Angeles, and one of our favorite places to hang out.
Sometimes it’s almost impossible to truly relax especially if you work away from home and at home.
I actually left my laptop in the apartment and didn’t look back as we drove away. It was a much needed break! We had no agenda outside of making sure to eat multiple times at our favorite spot The Stand. This vegan outdoor eatery has a grand menu of salads, burritos, tostadas, tamales, veggie juices, fruit smoothies, wonderful desserts, and more.
I was completely intoxicated by the coconut and vanilla gluten-free sugar-free cupcakes, a serious indulgent splurge!
Outside of seeing the many art galleries in town, we shopped at a boutique we both love called Tibetan Handicrafts. We finally purchased a gorgeous colorful handmade quilt that we had seen over a year ago for our serene bedroom. I have a feeling it may change the decor a bit, yet it is one of a kind and absolutely beautiful.
We ended the trip after watching a salmon pink sunset. I can’t remember the last time I saw the sunset. It is a big reality check of the need to slow down and enjoy the simple things in life more. There is nothing more valuable than these quiet moments. I deeply believe in staying focused on dreams and putting in quality work, yet enjoying the process is what really matters.
If you’re too busy to enjoy the process of life, reaching goals alone definitely won’t create the joy you missed along the way. This two day holiday was a wonderful reminder!
