Food is such a sensitive topic for so many people. It is how we nourish ourselves and our families, how we socialize, and the center of all festive occasions. It also can cause stress when we discuss our different views on diets, what is healthy, what is actually healing for the body, and how we can create a healthier relationship with food. Now with the topic of genetically modified foods, the topic of food has just been taken to a new level which needs to be talked about so much more. I believe that the healthiest diet no matter how you choose to eat contains whole foods, meaning predominately fruits, vegetables, and naturally sourced nutrition. Once you begin processing foods, using pesticides, adding preservatives and synthetic additives, or injecting growth hormones you no longer have a healthy source of nutrition. Chemicals in foods create many illnesses which we are seeing so much more prevalently in today’s society because of processed foods. Now there is a new dilemma where whole foods are now being created, altered, and poisoned with insecticides in labs. These are genetically modified foods.

The simplest and most inexpensive way to avoid GMO foods is to buy certified organic foods from local farmers’ markets including organic meats and animal products, if you choose to eat them. It is also important to read the labels on the foods that you buy. Just as cosmetics are not regulated in the US, it is critical to know that the Food and Drug Administration is now headed by a former Monsanto executive. Monsanto is the world’s leading biotechnology and genetic engineering company, and their GMO seeds are being shipped all over the world. (The FDA is not going to admit that genetically modified foods cause any harm to humans, animals, or the environment.) I also just discovered that it is prohibited by Monsanto and other GMO companies to scientifically test GMO versus non GMO foods.
To better understand what genetically modified foods are, that there are harmful risks to the body, and how these foods are being handled over the world, PLEASE watch the three short videos below.
Spread the word about GMO foods to increase the awareness and to protect the ones you love. The myth that buying organic foods will cost more is not comparable to the cost of medical bills!

This seems very interesting.

…and very informative, I definitely will look more into this.

Hi Essence,
Yes please do more research as well. I always feel better when I’ve read up on a topic from a few different sources than to only read about something once. There is a lot of information to learn about GMO foods and it can be a bit overwhelming. Yet it is so important to know what’s going on with our food.
Best wishes!

I am floored by the number of food items that are currently and will become GMO!! It’s the reason I am in the process of starting own organic garden. The things we as humans create to “better” our lives only to ultimately destroy it is mind blowing. Thanks for sharing this information, I will be doing more reading about this and passing it on to my family and friends.

Hi Karen, It really is crazy! Thanks for your comment and yes please do more research as well. I’ve also thought about organic gardening. I’ve been told to purchase heirloom seeds. Best wishes!

Do you have any issues with naturally genetically modified foods?
Dawn Michelle says
Hi Ana,
I don’t think there is such a thing as “naturally” genetically modified foods. If the food is genetically modified it is no longer in its natural state. GMO foods are in essence foreign substances.

Wow,
Its crazy what is in food. I shop at my local farmers market because of all this nonsense. Grocery stores receive items from hundreds of vendors and there is no telling what going on with them. You have to be so careful.

Hi Kia Jones,
Farmer’s markets are definitely my favorite place to shop. Thanks so much for your comment!
