I had thought that I would never wear a maxi dress again, and I had completely sworn them off until I found this black dress at Crossroads. It was the silver buckle detailing at the straps and the loose silhouette that caught my attention. I had been wearing it without a belt for sometime and finally something clicked. The belted waist makes a huge difference and was definitely needed. It doesn’t effect the comfort but certainly looks more put together.
(Thrifted Silence+Noise black maxi dress, Thrifted orange/teal/tan scarf, Minnetonka black moccasins, black belt-Urban Outfitters, silver bracelets-my Ma’s ;))
I also have been loving my moccasins. I haven’t had a pair for a LONG time. I was a bit nervous about adding them to the mix, but I am so happy that I did. They don’t look amazing with everything, but I feel like they work with this ensemble. I haven’t wanted to wear heels ever since I got these.
There is something special about allowing all of the muscles in your feet to articulate themselves when you walk. This is something that hard soles and heels definitely don’t allow. This may sound a bit odd, but I swear I have better balance because of it. I think the tiny muscles in my feet are getting stronger. As a dancer this is always a big deal.
And yes I did recently cut my hair. I needed a change, something a bit more artistic and edgy maybe. My personal style has evolved since creating capsule wardrobes to predominately simple classic pieces with only a bit of bohemian flair. Having a classic curly hair style too was killing my artistic vibe a bit too much I think. See more styling here and my complete S/S 2015 capsule wardrobe here!
