In the midst of updating my minimalist wardrobe to be nursing friendly, I have been trying new beauty items, and getting other items I need so I’m not focused so much on being sleep deprived. Sometimes it’s the little things that can bring that extra spark that’s needed especially when you are beginning a new journey. Here are some of my Spring 2017 Favorites which include beauty, health, and some other goodies I love!
The Mayan Backpack
For starters I desperately needed a diaper bag. Because I wear a baby carrier, I needed a lightweight backpack since a regular shoulder bag wouldn’t be practical. The ability to be hands-free as much as possible really makes things so much easier. I wanted something unique, beautiful, and of course ethically made.
When I saw this backpack online at Soul Flower, I didn’t think twice before I put it in my shopping cart. I love the prints, the rich colors, and that it is the perfect size for everything I need for outings. And most importantly this bag is a fair trade beauty from Nepal. There was a time when I could have filled this entire bag with all of my own belongings. Now the smaller front pocket carries all of my necessities, and the rest is all baby stuff.
This tea is a necessity in my life right now! It tastes amazing and it works wonders at keeping the milk flowing for baby. It contains organic herbs such as fennel, anise, coriander, and fenugreek. Fennel tea is also wonderful to drink while breastfeeding as it helps to soothe excessive gas for babies. I drink a cup of this tea a day as well as eat a bowl of oatmeal which is also good for maintaining a healthy breast milk supply.
When I was looking for a natural brow gel I was thrilled to find out that my favorite organic beauty brand 100% Pure had created exactly what I was looking for. Originally I purchased the color “soft brown” which creates the perfect natural brow, yet was lacking that extra something I needed for my complexion. Recently I purchased the color “medium brown”.
“Medium brown” definitely gives that distinct definition I was looking for, but using these two colors together is heaven. I use “soft brown” to fill in my entire brow, then I use “medium brown” to define and perfect the base of my brows before blending. Perfection!
When 100% Pure came out with their semi-matte lipstick collection, I resisted as long as I could before buying at least one shade. I’m obviously having a thing for plum, raspberry, and purple shades right now, and this lipstick fits right in with my latest color obsession. And yes I’m wearing “aubergine” in the picture above. I applied it light handed, yet this shade can be even richer.
What I LOVE most about this lipstick is its velvety matte feel on the lips and that it is long lasting. The texture is unlike anything I’ve come across. The Cocoa Butter Semi-Matte Lipsticks comes in so many shades. I’m still debating which color to get next!
Organic Cotton Bralette in “Plum”
Confession… I’ve never loved underwire bras so when I find an awesome wireless bra I’m all for it. If it’s organic I’m head over heels in love. This bralette is from Soul Flower and is the perfect everyday bra. It’s actually great for yoga, dance classes, or anything for that matter. And yes I purchased the color plum, but there are six colors to choose from.

One of my friends got me hooked on these insanely breathtaking short films of nature that are currently on Netflix. When I found that there is an entire film dedicated to flowers my heart melted. Nature is so healing, yet there are times especially if you live in the city, it isn’t always easy to get to. Sometimes you need to bring nature inside.
These documentary series are so stunning, it is like meditating just watching them. There is a film for deserts, forests, oceans, flowers, underwater, and waterfalls. The imagery and the music is dreamlike and very healing to watch.
