Yesterday I saw the film “Pina” a tribute to German modern dance choreographer Pina Bausch. I feel heightened with new senses, inspired to express my art with unabashed honesty, and more dedicated to do whatever needs to be done to achieve my dreams. It is so amazing that seeing another in their divine expression can touch your soul in unrecognizable places. Pina Bausch’s choreography is timeless, and will emotionally captivate everyone who is blessed to view it and be changed by it.
I had forgotten how powerful dance can be especially working as a dancer in Los Angeles. Dance is one of the most powerful art forms. It expresses what words and music cannot fully. It is the completion of visual art in movement. I am so grateful to be a dancer and feel more inspired to continue doing the work to shift from the commercial dance world to be back on the stage of artistic truth that goes deeper than selling a product. I desire to express the type of dance that makes you think of your own life while embracing the emotions that you cannot digest, comprehend, or even choose not to look at.
If you have the opportunity to see the Sundance Select Film “Pina” please go! It is the most stunning movie in 3D sharing how one woman changed the life of many dancers, artists, and viewers through her devoted love of dance, art, and expression. The honest place that her dancers move from is so much more than traditional dance lines and the beauty of Hollywood. The visual concepts, organic rich choreography, and superb artists in motion are unlike anything I’ve ever seen. “Pina” is Spectacular!

I’ve GOT to see that. I’m visiting the US right now, is it still in theatres?
Same question as Tereza Pina Bausch inspired me sooo much while I was dancing. She takes dancing to a whole another level. One of my greatest routines was inspired by her.
Hi Tereza,
I’m not sure when “Pina” was first released in LA, yet I know that it is coming to the East Coast the beginning of February. Look up your local cinema info to find where it is going to be in your area. “Pina” was in specialty theaters in Los Angeles. It truly is a must see. I want to see it again myself.
Best,
Dawn Michelle
Hi Sydney,
Pina Bausch is such a gift to the dance world! I wasn’t even aware of her work until now. I’m so glad that this phenomenal film brought so much of her creativity for me to see. Keep choreographing and dancing. I know that I will always see life through the eyes of movement. It’s part of the package of expressing art through dance.
Best Wishes,
Dawn Michelle
