I’ve finally narrowed down my makeup to a simple but somewhat polished look when I do wear it. Now that I’m working towards creating a zero waste household, I am searching for a good natural cake eyeliner/mascara combo in zero waste packaging. If you know of one please share. Somehow I have a feeling I’ll attempt to make one myself if I can. Meanwhile my super minimalist everyday makeup consists of three products.
1. Zuzu Luxe Liquid Eyeliner in Raven
Ingredients… Aqua (Infusion of Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice), Sorbitol, Cetyl Alcohol, Iron Oxides, Mica, Jojoba Oil, Bentonite, Bisabolol, Tocopherol, Xanthan Gum, Lecithin, Eyebright Extract, Titanium Dioxide, Cellulose Gum
2. Zuzu Luxe Mascara in Espresso
Ingredients… Aqua (Infusion of Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice), Cellulose Gum, Sorbitol, Stearic Acid, Cetearyl Alcohol, Panthenol, Euphrasia Officinalis (Eyebright) Extract, Xanthan Gum
3. DIY Face Powder… just colloidal oatmeal
Last year I realized that I actually love dark brown mascara to black even if I’m wearing black eyeliner as it looks so natural. Black mascara does add extra drama though. I still love a slightly winged liner, yet sometimes will line my eyes differently as you can see here. This has pretty much been my makeup look all summer long. I’d been somewhat obsessed with having perfectly defined brows, yet I’m good with my natural brows again. As for lips I’ll just wear a balm I made. I think I’ll tint my next batch with cocoa powder.
All three of my current makeup items are packaged in nonrecycleable packaging. I am aware that some cosmetic lines have recycling programs, yet most natural and organic cosmetic brands do not. In essence with zero waste you eliminate unnecessary packaging and minimize what can not be bought in bulk, in glass packaging, or packaging that can be recycled very easily.
Because I have been making almost all of my beauty products for years now, I am actually excited to see what I come up with for zero waste makeup. Some of my current DIY makeup recipes already are. My super minimalist everyday makeup will most likely consist of new products in a few months, yet for now I plan to use up what I have. You can see the other natural cosmetics that I currently have in my makeup bag here. You can also see some of the DIY makeup recipes that I’ve shared here.
Peace & Sunshine!
