• My Summer Style

I love to create one or two key styles that I can go to for an effortless look all season long.  This past fall my “uniform” was a tunic top or sweater, leggings, and boots.  I wore this consistently and loved that this look packed so easily during my winter vacation.

For the summer I love wearing flowing fabrics.  I love a good maxi dress yet find that a long maxi skirt has more style options and flexibility.  A long maxi skirt pairs well with my favorite off the shoulder tee, a spaghetti strap top, or a tucked in blouse.  I also love that it can be an all season item.  I took a long grey maxi skirt on vacation during the winter and simply layered it over a pair of leggings for extra warmth.

    The Maxi Skirt

My other go-to fashion piece are a pair of wide leg jersey pants.  These bottoms are literally the pant version of the long maxi skirt.  The long maxi skirt and wide leg jersey pants pack easily for travel, are extremely versatile and comfortable, and can be dressed up easily with the right accessories.

    Jersey Wide Legs

I’ve really been into sewing this season and I’ve already whipped up two pairs of wide leg pants.  I plan on making another maxi skirt when my schedule calms down a bit.  Here is one of the best videos on how to make knit pants.  Although these are for yoga pants you can easily create a wider leg with these same instructions.  Check out this video from Threadbanger here.  For a super simple DIY maxi skirt check out this video from Threadbare here.

When I’m not in my summer uniform I’ll probably be in cut offs and hopefully spending sometime at the beach. I’m so happy summer’s here!  Wooohooo!

I love how effortlessly cool all of your choices are. I always like flowy fabrics too, and think they’re comfortable no matter what. To complete the look, I always like to throw on my chic cats eye green sunglasses , because they’re kind of vitag-ey! Thanks for the tips!

Hi Samantha! Sunglasses are the perfect accessory just like a great hat or bag can be. :)
