• My Mini Vacation

This Thursday I will be off on a woman’s retreat for four days.  I am so looking forward to the time away from my usual schedule of nonstop multitasking while also getting some time away from the digital vortex of the Internet.  Owning a Blackberry and always being connected is wonderful much of the time, but also a bit draining.  So as soon as this post is published I will be taking a digital one week sabbatical.  I know that I mentioned showing pictures of my latest decluttering success, but truthfully the process continues while I’m also packing to leave for this retreat.

During this time last year I was preparing for my very first week long backpacking trip in the Eastern Sierra Nevadas.  I was panicked and a bit crazy as I hadn’t even been camping for even one night before.  I had done as much research as possible, but didn’t have the funds to get all of the lightweight gear that I really desired.  I am to this day grateful for my best friend’s care package including a sleeping bag, nylon rain jacket (which helped me from being eaten alive by the mosquitos), red light head lamp, and a few other odds and ends which made things so much easier.  Although I’m so glad that I had that experience, I realized that I’m more of an oceanside island gal versus being a mountaineer.  I also learned how determined I am to get through anything.  I lasted five days out of seven for my very first time in the back woods.

The retreat I will be going to this weekend is on beautiful camp grounds with great hiking trails with something that I can truly appreciate… cabins with running water.  Plus the beach is less than a mile away.  I will be packing light of course and thank God I won’t have to carry my pack during my entire stay.
