I’ve mentioned how our society has become extremely casual with how they dress everyday in Dressing For The New Chic You. Whenever I see photographs of my grandparents or even my parents, they are never wearing blue jeans, and definitely not athletic apparel. Jeans were the main staple of my wardrobe in high school and college, yet why am I still clinging to them now?
Recently I’ve noticed that wearing jeans is almost translating to the days I would throw on a pair of sweats in college. I don’t feel amazing wearing them, but I haven’t moved on from them either until now. Just like I never saw pictures of my grandparents or parents in blue jeans didn’t mean that they didn’t have a pair or two. They just rarely wore them.
I have been wearing blue jeans mindlessly with everything and honestly not really enjoying it.
I have been noticing that even with my small wardrobe, I haven’t been wearing my other pieces as much because I tend to pull out a pair of jeans without even thinking about it. When I do wear one of my dresses, skirts, or even my black cropped pants, I feel much more put together. I was thinking that maybe my jeans needed to be updated, and possibly weren’t fitting as well as they used to. But then again maybe it was time for a change.
So I decided to kick my habit of wearing blue jeans and I took them out of my closet.
I also decided to keep an eye out for possible replacements over the next few months, and actually enjoy the other pieces in my wardrobe by wearing them more often. What is the worst thing that could happen other than deciding that this is an absolutely insane idea and start wearing my jeans again? But, what if I learn what my true style aesthetic looks like by removing the “sweats” from my wardrobe?
So my plan is to see what the rest of this year feels like without blue jeans.
I doubt my world will collapse, or that I will go through any withdrawal, but we will see. I just don’t want to use wearing blue jeans as a crutch in my personal style anymore. There are lots of other options out there especially for women. I would love to hear your thoughts on this below.
Have a gorgeous weekend Beauties!
