I spoke on the healing benefits of turmeric in this skin care article on jojoba oil, raw honey, and turmeric. Turmeric is a powerful antioxidant as well as containing antibacterial properties. It is wonderful for healing acne, blackheads, hyperpigmentation, eczema, and psoriasis. Turmeric is also is known for improving skin’s elasticity.
For a simple daily glow, I started adding a tiny tiny bit of turmeric to my moisturizer in the morning. What I have found is that it gives my complexion a healthy glow while having more healing benefits than any mineral tint alone. One of Thandie Newton’s beauty tips is adding turmeric in her tinted moisturizer for that healthy glow, and it seriously does just that. Not only does it give a slight tint, it also helps to keep skin clear and blemish free.
A sprinkle of turmeric in your daily moisturizer is an easy way to add healing properties of this special herb to you skin regimen without doing a time consuming mask!
Another way that I’ve used turmeric is with raw honey as a facial exfoliating cleanser. I’ve also enjoyed using it in the DIY Ayurvedic Turmeric Facial Mask, as the raw honey, besan flour, and coconut milk is a powerful combination for soft smooth skin that is unexplainable. My favorite methods for adding turmeric into my skin care regimen is by adding turmeric to my morning moisturizer and in the DIY Ayurvedic Turmeric Facial Mask, versus using it with raw honey which would be an overkill.
Turmeric can be a bit tricky to use if you have extremely fair skin. If you do have fair skin, look for kasturi turmeric. Kasturi turmeric will provide your skin with the healing benefits that you’re looking for without the “glow” which I believe works best with yellow undertones, tan, or darker skin complexions.
Have you tried turmeric in your beauty regimen?
