• Let’s Do Clothing Swaps This Holiday!

Posted on November 26, 2010 by in Declutter, Holiday

We are now in the holiday season and it is also the season of gift giving.  One way you can exchange holiday spirit with your friends without spending money is to host a clothing swap holiday party.  There is nothing more fun than giving items in your wardrobe that no longer work for you a new life as they become a friend’s new favorite.  Plus it encourages all of your friends to finally clean out their closet while having fun in the process.

Read Chic Minimalism For Your Wardrobe before even opening the closet door.  Once you’ve decided how you want to streamline your wardrobe, it will be so easy to decide what items will go into the clothing swap.  Don’t only stop with clothing, include handbags, shoes, and jewelry to really clear out.  Have all of your friends do the same thing.  Make sure that everything that you put aside for the swap is clean and in good condition.  Also be aware of the clothing sizes of all your guests.  Make sure that there is an average size of the guests or at least pairs of different sizes for everyone invited.

Once the party begins, it will be nothing but fun from here.  While going through clothing catch up, laugh, eat yummy food, and share stories.  Clothing swaps can replace the way gift exchanges used to be.  Most likely you will be surprised with what amazing pieces you will leave with, as well as fewer items than you began with which is wonderful for a more minimalist lifestyle.  Whatever is left over can be given to a woman’s shelter.  Giving away the remaining clothing and accessories to someone who really needs them will be greatly appreciated.

Include items other than clothing, such as housewares, garden tools, toys, etc.
