So far we’ve created our own DIY Natural Perfume with the alcohol based method and a DIY Fragrance Body Oil which is one of my all time favorites. If you’re a fan of solid perfumes and love earthy scents, you’ll love this recipe. This recipe is by Julie Bailey from Mountain Rose Herbs and includes an essential oil blend of clary sage, sweet majoram, vetiver, juniper berry, and lavender. Essential oil blends are the healthiest options to sweet scents versus using questionable and toxic synthetic fragrances.
What you will need:
1 1/2 cup organic sweet almond oil
1/2 cup organic grapeseed oil
1 tsp vitamin E oil
1/2 cup beeswax pastilles
Essential Oil Blend…
20 drops clary sage
20 drops sweet marjoram
20 drops vetiver
10 drops juniper berry
10 drops lavender
*Mix essentiIal oils together in a clean glass bottle and roll between the palms of your hands to combine. Set aside.
Using a double boiler, gently warm carrier oils over medium heat. Add the beeswax and stir together until completely melted to liquid, but do not boil! Remove from heat and immediately pour in 1 oz. tin containers. Drip 6 drops of essential oil blend into each tin, and screw lids on tight. This recipe makes 14 solid perfumes. (You could also use 2 oz. tin containers adding 12 drops of the essential oil blend to each, and making a total of 7 solid perfumes.)
Once you understand how to create the solid perfume base (the top portion of the recipe), you can then add any of your favorite essentail oils and essential oil absolutes to customize your own solid perfume scent. Being a big vanilla lover, the idea of vanilla and orange just sounds so good! Also this DIY solid perfume would make a great gift. Enjoy!
