Joshua Tree National Park is a magical place! The rock formations are incredible and the Joshua Tree dances throughout the landscape. I’ve never seen anything like the Joshua Tree.
I would have loved to experience this beauty at a cooler time during the year. We took this road trip the last week of May. The heat was ludicrous, and I still can’t believe we weren’t the only ones venturing off into Joshua Tree National Park on that day. At least you can’t feel the heat while looking at these photos.
I literally felt like I was going pass out while taking a few of these pictures. I was drinking lots of water or I had at least thought so. We had filled up our 15 liter stainless steel water jug and our personal water bottles. After this trip to Coachella Valley, it is confirmed that I prefer heat with humidity and a cool ocean breeze. In other words I’m an island girl at heart!
We mainly drove through the park stopping at specific points along the way with the air conditioning on blast. Because we brought our dog Keona on the trip, we had to remain off of the trails for her safety, and also not to disrupt the natural balance of the wildlife. With that heat I did not mind one bit.
I also find it kind of funny that I purchased these denim shorts for $5 at Goodwill just for this trip, and I donated them right back to Goodwill afterwards. I’m obviously not a denim shorts kind of girl either, but they worked out perfectly for this week. If you missed Part 1 of this photo diary, go check it out!
The beauty of the desert is like no other!
