I love fashion and beauty, yet am also a minimalist. I'm a professional dancer and model and have been a part of the entertainment industry for years. I've also worked in one of the largest beauty retailers as a consultant. Minimalist Beauty is a lifestyle of simplicity, freedom from clutter and the unnecessary, using organic and natural beauty products free of any chemical or toxic preservatives, and spending more time doing what you absolutely love most. Minimalist Beauty is my journey of thoughts, inspirations, and lessons creating a life of simplicity and therefore more artistic expression. I hope you enjoy!

Catnip–A Beauty and Health Herb
Last month I did a trial using catnip tea for a hair rinse and also as a facial toner. If you are at all familiar with catnip also known as catmint, it is a herb from the mint family that most cats go crazy over. I learned about catnip from Ktani on the Long Hair [...]
Soapwort Root–A Natural Cleanser
My most recent Mountain Rose Herbs purchase included a bunch of herbs that I wanted to get acquainted with for medicinal and beauty purposes. One of those herbs was soapwort root. I was very interested in this herb because of its gentle cleansing abilities. Soapwort root has a very high concentration of saponins which gives [...]
DIY Satin Nightgown
I am seriously needing new sleepwear, and although I’d love to run to the store and pick one or two up, I decided that I’d make one at home especially after seeing this video. What’s the point of having a wonderful sewing machine if I don’t use it anyway. I found this simple to follow [...]
DIY Herbal Hair Rinse
This past weekend I began playing around with herbal hair rinses. Herbal hair rinses can be used in place of conditioner for some and are also wonderful for those who are sensitive to shampoos and condtioners. The acidic nature of herbal hair rinses gently cleanse, condition, and strengthen the hair and scalp. Since going no [...]

Marshmallow Root in Natural Hair Care
I recently purchased organic marshmallow root from Mountain Rose Herbs to try out in different DIY hair products that I’ve created. Marshmallow root extract is a popular ingredient in many hair conditioners for its amazing slippery texture for easy detangling as well as softening the hair. It is high in plant protein that promotes healthy [...]

Flax Seed Gel Made Easy
Flax seed gel is basically flax seed extract used as a natural styling gel in the curly hair community. A jar of flax seed gel can be made for less than 25 cents, leaving hair moisturized, frizz free, and never crunchy like traditional hair gels. I’m in complete awe that you do not need to [...]
Missing Creamy Conditioners No More
I’ve been good with my DIY Green Tea Cleansing Hair Rinse, yet I was seriously missing the detangling properties of creamy conditioners. I actually like how my hair feels without being coated with store bought conditioners, and although cleansing has been much easier, detangling was temperamental. Coconut milk with hemp oil has been my go-to deep [...]

Vintage Inspired Renewal–Ashley Watson
Ashley Watson, a Vancouver based designer with a background in fine arts, creates one of a kind leather products by hand from exclusively reclaimed material. Her pieces are absolutely stunning and very high quality. This summer I came across one of her bags in fushia at Crossroads, my favorite buy-sell-trade retailer, that was marked 50% [...]
DIY Green Tea Cleansing Hair Rinse
I decided to again stop using all store bought conditioners. I did my usual online research on simple hair regimens and of course I found articles and forums filled with information about the no-poo hair care method. ***Updated notes at the end of the article! No-poo refers to no longer using shampoo and for some [...]
