It’s truly summer weather in Los Angeles and I desired some more summer clothing pieces in my S/S capsule wardrobe. I love building my capsule wardrobe around versatile separates and decided to actually upcycle two pieces currently in my closet. You may remember these two pieces pictured above.
You may even remember me styling these two pieces for my S/S lookbook series Billowy Layers also pictured below.
I decided to crop both pieces to make them more suitable for summer heat especially for traveling in more humid weather. I removed the sleeves of the tunic and decided to create a racerback style tunic instead. I also cropped the chinos to sweet bermuda shorts. I hemmed the seams on both items for a polished overall look.
I love the changes for both of these pieces, and am thrilled to have another pair of shorts in my capsule wardrobe to have more hot and humid weather styling options. One reason that I build my capsule wardrobe around separates is for a lot of flexibility when putting outfits together. It allows creativity when styling and keeps things interesting. Even though my intention is not to only pair these two pieces that I upcycled together, I will show you how they look as an outfit for the sake of this article.
I hope you are enjoying your summer so far. Have a gorgeous weekend!
