One of the main reasons I tend to focus on finding quality basics is to have as much versatility in my capsule wardrobe as possible. I wanted to share with you how I like to style a few pieces from my fall/winter 2013 capsule wardrobe. You’ll notice that by simply changing up my shoes and accessories, the feel of the same pieces can become completely different. What has become very clear to me is that having 15 main pieces in a capsule wardrobe is more than enough to carry you throughout the entire season if you’ve chosen a good variety of items with complimentary colors.
One reason I never thought I could happily own such a small wardrobe was only because I never knew exactly what to buy for my own personal style.
Below you will see seven different looks with the same four items. One look is practically the same as another, yet changing the accessories and how I styled my hair brings a completely new energy to the outfit. The capsule wardrobe brings an element of flexibility into your personal style without crowding your closet with cheap quality nonsense and uncomplimentary confusion. This mini lookbook contains a simple black shift dress, a navy striped button up, a mustard cardigan, and dark wash jeans.
