Although I enjoy making many of my own products, once and a while I like trying something new especially if the ingredients are uniquely natural and organic. I recently purchased 100% Pure Tinted Moisturizer in Mousse and Cocoa Pigmented Bronzer in Cocoa Glow. I love 100% Pure Body Creams so much that I knew at some point I would try their cosmetics.
The ingredients for 100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Cosmetics are absolutely unbelieveable, unlike any other organic or natural cosmetic that I have ever seen. Instead of using minerals to create color pigments, they use antioxidant rich fruit and vegetable pigments. The cost of 100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Cosmetics is right in line with any other quality cosmetic that you would find at Sephora or other beauty counters. The only difference is that you will not see any unpronouncable ingredients, toxic chemicals, or synthetic preservatives. What you will see is anti-aging vitamins, antioxidants, and skin nourishing ingredients.
The 100% Pure Tinted Moisturizer does have SPF 20, yet I still use DeVita Solar Protective Moisturizer SPF 30+ with a few drops of camellia oil to moisturize and protect my skin. I really like the consistency of the tinted moisturizer, and was pleasantly surprised with the color since many lines don’t seem to get darker tones accurately. 100% Pure Tinted Moisturizer has very light coverage without a heavy or greasy feeling, yet evens the skin tone beautifully. It comes in a 1.7 oz/50 ml pump container that allows you to see how much foundation that you have left, which I prefer. I had to initially pump it more than a few times to get the foundation to come to the top so don’t worry that the pump doesn’t work.
I’ve found that the perfect application for my skin was to apply a light layer of Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Finishing Powder first as a primer, then apply 100% Pure Tinted Moisturizer with my fingers layering my DIY Foundation to the areas that need a bit more attention blending gently as I go. I then complete my light foundation base by gently blotting the skin with Tarte Smooth Operator Clay Finishing Powder with my powder brush. I prefer to blot powder on my face versus brush it, and also never to have my powder brush loaded with powder for the most natural look. By applying my foundation base in this way my complexion stays beautiful all day long.
Check out these amazing ingredients for the 100% Pure Tinted Moisturizer:
Ingredients: Pigments of Peach, Apricot, Carrot, Pomegranate, Cocoa Bean, Goji Berry and Tomato, White Tea, Cucumber Juice, Aloe Juice, Acai and Pomegranate Oil, Vitamin E (a-tocopherol), Vitamin C (ascorbyl palmitate), Rice Starch, Candelilla Wax, Extracts of Rosemary, Oregano, Thyme, Grapefruit Seed, Japanese Honeysuckle, Goldenseal & Cinnamon
Sunscreen Active Ingredients: 15% Titanium Dioxide and 10% Zinc Oxide
Finally we are ready for my favorite part… bronzer! I really didn’t understand why bronzer was such a vital part of one’s foundation routine until I was a model for the IMATS 2011 Conference in Los Angeles. Some reason I thought that since I already had a cocoa complexion that I was exempt from using bronzer. Boy was I wrong, and kind of embarrassed to admit it though I just did! Bronzer is your complexion’s best friend no matter your skin tone or what season it is. It adds dimension and warmth to your complexion unlike any other cosmetic. Although blush is the icing on the cake, bronzer is the cake itself!
Bronzer is the a beauty enhancement not to be overused or applied heavily. The perfect glow is all about proper application and also finding the right bronzer color for your complexion. 100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Cosmetics offers four bronzer shades, and although they seemed darker on my computer monitor, the Cocoa Glow was not only a bit lighter in person yet the perfect shade for me.
There are two ways that you can use bronzer. One way is for a sun-kissed look by applying a bit in all the areas the sun would naturally warm your skin: cheekbones, nose, forehead, chin. Another way is to contour the face for dimension by applying bronzer in a C shape, from my temples all the way down to my cheekbones, along the jaw line, and in the crease of the eye lid. I usually apply bronzer to contour the face also brushing a tiny bit over my nose.
100% Pure Cocoa Pigmented Bronzer is presented in a gorgeous burgundy tin compact with a floral decoration and mirror inside the lid. It is neither too shimmery or too matte. I absolutely love it!
Check out these fabulous ingredients for the 100% Pure Cocoa Pigmented Bronzer:
100% Natural Ingredients: Cocoa Powder, Cocoa Butter, Powdered Pigments of Cacao, Apricot, Peach, Pomegranate, Blackberry, Raspberry, Coffee, Papaya, Tomato, Black Tea and Acai, Vitamin E (a-tocopherol), Lavender Flower Powder, Rosehip Oil, Avocado Butter, Mica (natural mineral shimmer), Vitamin A (a-palmitate), Vitamin C (ascorbic acid)
Finding quality cosmetics without toxic ingredients is very important to me. It would be great to create every cosmetic at home yet I am not a chemist, and have other things that I enjoy doing. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hey! I just recently got interested in trying to make my own makeup and I stumbled across your blog. I absolutely love it! You have such great information on here and have further inspired me to try and make some of my own products at home. I’ve been doing a LOT of research and reading on all the nasty chemicals that cosmetic companies are using in their products and I want to get rid of it all!! I think I want to try and start making my own foundation and bronzer for sure because I do usually wear those on a daily basis.
I did come across the 100% Pure Line but found it a bit pricey for my current budget, so I want to hold off on purchasing these items if I can try and make some of my own products for now.
As far as both the foundation and bronzer, do you think it would be possible to use pure, organic cocoa powder in the DIY recipes? I am Indian and have tan skin so I’m thinking the cocoa powder in correct ratios mixed with a base product, such as rice powder, would make for a great DIY bronzer and mixed with cocoa butter, aloe, and glycerin would make for a great DIY foundation! I don’t know if it will work but it’s worth a try. Let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions to tweak this recipe!
Thanks and keep blogging!
Hi Kesha! I’m so glad you like Minimalist Beauty and yes I think cocoa powder would be a great pigment for a bronzer. The 100% Pure bronzer is pigmented with cocoa powder and other fruit pigments. I don’t have a recipe base to suggest since I use a mineral sunscreen to create my foundation. Let me know how it works out for you and what you come up with. You may want to make small batches especially since you are thinking of adding aloe vera. Any time you mix a liquid into a DIY beauty product you must consider shelf life and spoilage. Have a beautiful day!
